My mother needs a new washer and dryer. She lives in Memphis, but I live in Atlanta, we have several discounted appliance stores in Metro Atlanta like BrandSmart and Appliance Outlet, are there any good discounted appliance stores in Memphis?

The Sears repair center on Whitten road has scratch and dent type items as well as some discounted appliances in general. In fact, the whole back area room of the store is dedicated to discounted appliances. It's on Whitten Road between Macon Rd and Hwy 70. It's right at the intersection with Raleigh LaGrange.

Also, the Habitat for Humanity Restore is an option. Appliance manufacturers and retailers donate extra inventory or discontinued items to Habitat, which they then go on to sell at a 50%+ discount at their store. The appliances at Sears are new with perhaps a scratch on the side or a discontinued item. Habitat Restore has new appliances as well. Major manufacturers donate items from discontinued lines to them. We have a family member who has bought some brand new top-of-the-line appliances there for about 80% off. Companies use these as tax write-offs.

I don't know of any appliance wholesalers in this area.
