Post Egyptian Hair Salons in Tennessee, are there any?

Hello All,

Okay so I live in Chicago, my mother in law lives in Memphis,Tennessee. She recently came down to Chicago for a visit and accompanied me and her grandaughter to the hair shop. After the egyptians started on our hair she decided that she couldn't resist and got her hair done too.

Let me explain so that you can get a better picture.....I am african-american my hair has not been relaxed or processed, nor has my daughters. We both carry the natural thick and curly look, so in order to have the processed look without the processing...the egyptians take it through a process. Which goes as follows;

Wash
Thourough Blow Dry
Curl
That is all.....nothing less, nothing more.....
Leaving my hair immacously silky straight, of course until the next time I wash it.

Nevertheless

.....Since that day my Mother in Law has been dying to go back to the egyptians...without the hassle of the 8hr ride to chicago....So if anybody knows anything...about an egypt....egyptian, who is great with a blow dryer....or even if your not a egyptian, from egypt and you know what I'm referring to please respond with some assistance....because I don't know what else to tell her.....besides......when do you want me to make your next appt? PLEASE HELP!

Is "an egypt" code for something that I'm not understanding?

I would imagine that in a city like Memphis, it doesn't take being from Egypt to know how to work african-american hair. Maybe your mother-in-law just hasn't found the right salon yet down here. Egyptian or not

Jones, I have not heard of any salons in Memphis that do "egyptian" style, although I have heard of it. However, there are plenty natural hair care salons that cater to women of color. I have not chemically treated/relaxed my hair in over 10 years and I am currently loced. I can DM you the names of some natural hair care salons if you like. I am not sure about your in law's "texture" because my hair is very thick and coarse and even if i blow dried it, it would never been totally straight or "silky"...her texture is most likely 3a/3b...mine is 4b with a z pattern. Best of luck.

PS she could always get her hair "pressed" until she finds someone. It would give her the same effect she is looking for-just more heat.

Smile Egyptian Hair Salons in Tennessee

Jones, I understand what you are asking I visited Chicago about 3 wks ago and went to an Egyptian hair stylist and he was wonderful. It is a very good experience. If a person has never experience that type of service they wouldn't understand what you are talking about. I'm in LR, AR and if an Egyptian hair stylist come to the Rock I will have to let my current hair stylist go. The quality of service that you receive from the Egyptian doesn't compare to American stylist. At least I haven't found it over here. I miss FADI's Hair Salon in Bolingbrook, IL.

I feel your mother-in-law pain.

If any city in the US deserves an Egyptian salon, it should be Memphis....or maybe Cairo, IL
