I've been using broadband cable ever since it became available - originally with Time Warner RoadRunner, which was bought by Comcast. I've been very happy with the service overall. Had a couple of glitches when Comcast took over, but I've found it to be very reliable. I have some friends who use DSL and they're happy too, but your ability to use that depends on your location. Comcast is available everywhere. Cost is $30something per month...

I have never been happy with Comcast. Honestly Joe up there is the first person I have ever heard of who is. Time Warner was great....it took a nose dive when Comcast took over. But, I haven't heard of anything else being better. It is one of those things that you are pretty much stuck with.

Maybe I'm lucky!
Comcast customer service sucks, but so does every other ISP..and so did Time Warner...so I guess it's just a matter of which one sucks less . My only real issue with the switch to Comcast was that their billing system was a mess for several months. I always paid online with Time Warner and never had a problem. I had so many problems with Comcast after they took it over I finally gave up and started mailing them a check - that seemed to be the only thing they could handle. I've recently gone back to paying them online...so far, so good....
As far as speed and reliability, I think cable is hard to beat. I've got two desktops on wires and a laptop on wireless and haven't had a problem in many months.

Since I work at home, speed is a requirement so I use Comcast's "Work at Home" program. I get business class speed 8Mb download/2Mb upload for $80 per month. I also get a direct line to local customer service and a free repairs. That came in handy when they had to fix the cable in the green box in my front yard. I had had the only outage in my neighborhood. They had a truck rolling to my house in 2 hours and I was back up and running 30 minutes later.
Other Comcast markets have 16Mb and higher downloads. From what I have read, they are shooting for 100Mb+ residental downloads in the next 2 years.

I recently switched all of my cable and internet services from Comcast to AT&T/DirecTV. Comcast was charging me $60 for internet service after I got DirecTV. I now pay $35 for DSL with AT&T and have had no problems. If Comcast was faster, you really can't tell.

My family recently moved (from one place in Bartlett to another place in Bartlett) and simultaneously switched from Comcast High Speed to AT&T DSL. This was done mainly because Comcast was so difficult about scheduling the service change. I've been very happy so far with AT&T DSL, but I don't do a lot of high bandwith stuff (downloading large files, online gaming, etc).
FWIW, I also switched from Comcast Cable to Direct TV at the same time. Again, this was because Comcast was being so difficult about scheduling a service change. When I told Comcast I was cancelling and the reason why, they didn't try to keep me as a customer, they didn't try to fix the problem, they just said "Okay, your service will cut off on..." and hung up.
Worried...all DSL here ultimately uses AT&T phone lines, but there are many providers available. I don't know how they price out relative to AT&T, but you can pick other companies if you prefer.
