Default Infor about area New Brownsville Road and Banbury

Does anyone have any information about neighborhood:
5438 Banbury Ave. at New Brownsville Road & Banbury? We are moving to Memphis in September and trying to rent a home long distance. Schools are not an issue at this time. My husband will work at New Allen Road and Frayser Blvd. I will probably be downtown.
Thanks everyone.

My in-laws moved out of the area about two years ago, because it was starting to go into a decline and they were worried about property values. They were just slightly north of of your location, just across St. Elmo Rd.
As a rental, for a year or two, it's probably fine.

I would advise against this area. It is probably okay, but the area is transitional and I wouldn't move there not knowing the area. It is in the county near Bartlett, but it is in the Memphis annexation resereve. Currently, it is patrolled by the Sheriff's Department, but it doesn't receive the kind of police attention it should. Burglaries and such have been on the rise in that general area (although I don't know about that specific neighborhood) as have the number of rental houses. I'm not saying they go hand in hand, but in this area, they often do.

How big of a place and how much money are you wanting to spend? For around $1200.00, there are lots of places in Bartlett proper (just a little bit down the road)that you can get and have the benefit of a vigorous police department and much better code enforcement.

Brownsville TN isn't near New Brownsville Road in Memphis - it's about a hour or so east of here....
