I live in Lakeland, right on the border of Arlington. Not a whole lot to do out here, but lots of families and good neighbors. I work in Collierville and my wife wife works downtown. A bit of a commute, but not too bad. We are zoned for Arlington Elementary and will be sending 3 kids there nest year, with no reservations about the school.
What specifically do you want to know?

My son lives in Arlington. It's a nice bedroom community. Little there in the way of jobs, restaurants, shopping, etc., but it's only two exits out from the Wolfchase Galleria area. With the population growing and being mostly upper middle class, I'd expect to see more restaurants, etc., moving into the area over the next couple of years.

Not knowing what you really want to know...
the only thing I have to add is that parts of this area are confusing.
Are we talking Arlington proper, or Arlington zip code?
Where I live the zip is either Arlington or Millington.
But not in either Arlington or Millington.
I have the Millington zip, the folks next door have Arlington.
But yes, Arlington, city limits or zip code area are excellent places to live.

I don't think there's a hotel of any kind in Arlington. There are a couple in Lakeland (the next exit toward Memphis on I-40...Canada Road) and a bunch around the Wolfchase Galleria (the next two exits toward Memphis - Highway 64 and Germantown Parkway).
I'm not sure about extended stay hotels....I do know there is one on Hwy 64 east of Appling Road (Bartlett area), and there's one on Germantown Parkway south of Dexter....next door to Corky's.
There is a new Kroger store in Arlington at Hwy 70 and Airline Road.
