Rondezous in the downtown area, probably the best place for "dry" ribs.
Corkey's is a great place for "wet" ribs and pork, although they are not always consistent.
Interstate BBQ is also excellent.
Try those 3, you can't go wrong.

Interstate BBQ has a place in the airport so you don't even have to leave the airport to have some real, authentic, mouth-watering Memphis BBQ!
For BBQ sandwiches I always had for the BBQ Place (I think that's what it's called) on Madison in midtown.
I happen to like the ribs at Rum Boogie on Beale Street. If you go there, not only will you get some amazing ribs, but you'll experience Beale Street. They're wet ribs, not dry.
Oh, and for something really different, head to Coletta's for some BBQ pizza. It's GOOD.
But really, I've never had any bad BBQ in Memphis. I wish I was there right now!

Now Corky's has a place in the airport, I know that. Maybe Interstate does, I don't remember. I wouldn't compare the Corky's airport (they also have Corky's franchises in some other cities) food to the original Corky's. I think they use the pre-cooked frozen variety that they also sell at some supermarkets (they certainly don't have a smoker in the airport), rather than the hot off the smoker variety at the actual resteraunt.
Still good however, had the Corky's airport pork sandwhich earlier this week before boarding a flight.

Jack Neely's Interstate BBQ is in the B concourse, it's been there for years. Corky's recently opened in the Memphis airport and has 2 locations. I can't imagine another airport anywhere in the world with that much BBQ! I routinely ask for layovers in Memphis just for the food!

That's a very good question! After living in Memphis, I was disappointed in the Knoxville BBQ scene. I guess Calhoun's has the best ribs, they have several locations around town.
Actually, Corky's has a location in Knoxville on Kingston Pike just west of the Sequoyah Hills area.

Is the Corky's in Knoxville as good as the ones in Memphis? I know none are as good as the original, but is the Knoxville one as good as the other chain Corky's in Memphis?
I hear Calhoun's are good too.

I've never eaten at the Corky's in Knoxville, I'm not sure why. I just never think about it. But the ribs at Calhoun's are pretty good.
I've heard that Famous Dave's also has good ribs, it's out on Cedar Bluff just off I-40. I did try the ribs at Sonny's and wasn't impressed. Sonny's has good chopped BBQ, however. Damon's has locations in Sevierville and Gatlinburg, but I've never had their ribs, either.
