Arlington and lakeland areas are good, but soooo boring. Nothing to do out here.
I would say live downtown, harbor town, or midtown... well come parts of midtown.

Most of 38117 is good and very convenient. Memphis is small, so - relative to somewhere like L.A. - it's hard to get too inconvenient. Can't really go wrong with Germantown. Collierville and Arlington are good, but a lot of their residents have a frustrating commute into work; but I think most would say it's worth it. Other than these areas, I'd suggest south of the border in MS., another crowded commute that a lot of people find worth it as well.

There are nice neighborhoods in North Memphis and Frayser and Whitehaven. There is crime and foolishness in every neighborhood in Memphis. Of course, if the object is to avoid non-whites, there's no where you can go on earth.......

hahaha.. basically the entire city. I was trying to think of truly "nice" places in this city the other day. You can't include Germantown, Bartlett, or Arlington, because they are their own cities. There are a few neighborhood pockets that are nice (because of alot of money being in those neighborhoods). Other than that... can you honestly think of the 'nice' area of memphis, because I know I sure can't!

Please do not be so judgmental of Memphis. There are very nice areas in the City. These areas are just as nice if not nicer than any places in the surrounding suburbs. Check out the map in the sticky post on the main page. The nice areas of Memphis are in green.

im no stranger to memphis. read your profile trying to get an idea about where you are coming from. there have been some angry CDF debates on memphis requiring moderator involvement. memphis has some good things to offer, i think it is beautiful esp the river area and of course there is the music.
but dont be walking around late at night. there is a reason they got an armed guard in front of rendezvous. dont walk the river and beale street late at night. but dont let that spoil the visit.
see you there in 4 days.
