What are some main places to stay out of in Memphis... I am advising people and have forgotten names of some streets and neighborhoods.

Not to sound rude, but if you don't live here and you don't know what areas are what or the street names - maybe you shouldn't be advising people on where to live. ?? Memphis changes often, so if you move away your knowledge of the city can become outdated quickly.

Stay OUT of my sister's flowerbed. She has little tolerance for people who walk through her yard uninvited.

I am in many parts of Memphis at-least once-twice a month. I've also lived there. The reason I asked was kinda to throw it out like a poll. I advise people in my own community who either want to move to MEM or are moving there. I like to stay up-to-date and that is why I am a member.

I think you can do a search on here and find plenty of info on what you are looking for. We don't need to beat a dead horse going over these things in yet another post.

-Frayser
-North Memphis- The area within the loop that's generally north of North Parkway/Summer.
-South Memphis- The area within the loop that's generally south of Crump & Lamar til it hits the train tracks near McLean Blvd. South Memphis stays south of the tracks til it gets around Audubon Park in East Memphis. Most of the southern areas of East Memphis are safe, but there are some sketchy areas.
-The part of Raleigh that borders Frayser. The Raliegh-Millington Rd area and west.
-I always hear that Hickory Hill is getting bad, but i dont go down there much. I went down there a couple years ago and the houses looked decent.
-Whitehaven
- Some parts of downtown & midtown are unsafe. You just have to use common sense.
Of course, there are always exceptions. Like Binghampton, which is a little section of East Memphis. It's pretty bad. On the flip side, i've seen houses in Whitehaven that look like they should be in Germantown.
