Can anyone recommend a good real estate agent in the Memphis area? Preferably someone that has experience downtown, midtown, UM area, east Memphis, etc. (In the city.)

Default Real Estate Agent

During you initial inquiries with estate agents, ask them for several recommendations each of good conveyance rs or solicitors. You don’t just want the name of the firm, but also the name of the specific solicitor/conveyance r. Remember, some agents will have ‘arrangements’ with some solicitors and some will even have their own - so be warned. A good rule of thumb would be to approach solicitors who have been recommended by different agents - although some solicitors will have arrangements with more than one agent.

Default I specialize in Midtown, Downtown, and East Memphis

I am Joe Spake, Memphis' Web 2.0 Realtor. I don't think I can post a link here, but I am easy to find.

I highly recommend David da Ponte of Sowell & Company (http://www.sowellandco.com/agent_detail_idx.asp?ListAgent=11407 - broken link). He deals with quality properties in the Midtown and East Memphis areas, has 10+ years in experience, is honest, very intelligent, and has helped with several of my investment properties. He's steered me away from properties that he didn't think would be a good choice and I know he could help your friend just as well if not better than most any of the other top agents in our area.
