Default Lack of development north of Memphis

I live in Ripley, TN, and I often ask myself, and others, why there has been virtually no development in this area in the last 5 to 7 years. There are no new restaurants, stores, or anything to do, and if anything does pop up, it lasts less than six months and is closed. No new jobs, companies and factories have been steadily closing even before the recession.

But places like Atoka and Covington are brimming in new development. I understand, flight from Memphis has a part. More modern conveniences would be nice here! Maybe a new restaurant! It's depressing, and why I'm leaving Ripley next year.

Unfortunatly, many many many places like that are suffering with lack of new development. It's the economy, it really is. Unless there is demand for new development, it just sint going to happen until everything is more under control.
