Default Thinking of moving to Jackson TN

My fiance and I both 50's no children are thinking of buying a home in Jackson. Is the crime rate as bad as it was a few years ago? If we don't go our at night and keep to ourselves will that lower our chances of being victums? We're both avid gardeners.

While cross-posting is not technically allowed, I would suggest asking this on the main TN forum. Memphis is quite a ways from Jackson, and people living around Jackson may not regularly look at this Memphis forum.
