Default Love to live in Lakeland

I always see so many negative post on Memphis, but places like Lakeland are great. Lakeland is a great little town, and anyone looking to transfer to Memphis should consider checking it out. Our city has no city taxes for the home owners, and the school districts are outstanding. We're blessed to live here, as our kids have many friends to play with in the safe neighborhoods. Any questions or help needed, just ask me.

Is lakeland going to have their own tax soon like arlington, collierville, and gtown? They need to expand that canada rd exit.

I live in Lakeland and like it! The Cananda Rd exit is a mess, but I think they are going to revise the entire exit...at at cost of $12 million (I think). From what have read, there are no property taxes on the horizon, but perhaps in a few years. Seems like the city of Lakeland is well-managed and taxpayer money is spent with much care!

Relopro---any idea when 385 will be complete? I have looked at TDOT's website and it is a bit out of date and confusing. I think the part from Hwy 64 to Macon is scheduled to be completed by June of this year, and the rest, connecting to Hwy 57, at a later date...perhaps 2011? I hope not. Once the highway is complete, my biggest gripe about living here in Lakeland will go away! I work in Collierville, and the completed Hwy 385 will make a huge difference in my daily commute.

Thanks

While they are working on the I-40/Canada Rd exit, I have a suggestion for anyone with any influence on those kinds of things - the Canada Rd/Hy 70 intersection badly needs a stop light, not just a stop sign. With traffic speeding over that hilltop approaching the intersection on the highway from the east, they are right on top of you way too fast. It's an EXTREMELY dangerous intersection to cross to turn onto 70 or to go straight across on Canada Road. I know of at least one person who was seriously injured there. It's bad to the point that sometimes going out there I do it the hard way and drive the whole way out from Memphis on Summer/70 instead of I-40 thru Lakeland.

Generally however I'm very positive on Lakeland.

I seriously doubt that 385 will be open from Hwy 64 to Macon Rd in June....at least not THIS June I drove by the construction area on Macon and it looks like completion is quite a while off....

Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought I read that the money to complete this was diverted elsewhere?
