Default We're moving. Have to find a new home for our dog. Any ideas?

We are closing on our house in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, husband got laid off, and we are temporarily having to move in w/ in-laws and can't take our 13 yr. old (outside) dog w/ us. She is sweet and very good w/ kids. I have asked EVERYONE, but no takers. I'm at the end of my rope. Any ideas on how to find her a good home?

Call you vet about placing a flier in their office.
Put a flier on bulletin boards at your church, park, city hall, pet stores, ect.
Put an ad in the paper.
Try freecycle. Some local chapters have pet sections.
Email everyone you know!!!
If you are going to have a garage sale to get rid of things, make sure she is present and have fliers.
Let neighbors know. Pass around fliers in your neighborhood.

have you tried local shelters? Is she a pure breed? You might be able to call a breed rescue. Make sure she is up to date on her shots and is spayed.

Placing an older dog is extremly hard. Maybe talk to your in-laws about a compromise. It may be your only option. Shelters are usually stuffed full and don't take in pets. But you never know.

I hope you are able to find her a home. Re-homing a pet is extremly hard on both the owners and the dog.
