Question moving to ripley,is it a good idea?
We live on Long Island and want to retire in Tn.We found a lovely home in Ripley, but we do not know anything about how good the school system is or the crime rate,What the town looks like etc..If anyone is farmiliar or has links that can take me to further info I'de really appreciate it.

It's a small town of around 10k people. Ripley is a safe place. Here are some photos of Ripley and the surrounding county: Flickr - Lauderdale County

Ripley is a quiet town. There's not exactly a lot to do here. Any reasonable entertainment or shopping is at least 45 minutes to one hour away. There are the major fast food places here and around 5 other restaurants that are just okay. Nothing gourmet here, unfortunately. Schools are good and safe. There are many great teachers in the system.

I recommend looking closer to Jackson, TN. That way, you will be closer to modern amenities and shopping. Feel free to ask more!

You could probably live here for ten years on what it costs to live on Long Island for one year.
