Great hotel on Beale Street
First I gotta say I really don't know much about Memphis. That being said I'm going to be visiting in a couple of months. Wanna know what people think are some of the nicest hotels on or near Beale Street. I prefer a nicer hotel, willing to pay up to $200-$300 a night with a more romantic setting i.e. spacious, large bathroom with jacuzzi, room service. I've done some searching on some other sites but also wanted to see what local people say. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

I think the closest hotel is a Hampton Inn (and it's a nice Hampton Inn). But if it were me, I'd stay at the Peabody. It's only a couple of blocks away from Beale Street. It's the grande dame of Memphis hotels.

considering your parameters, i would say: the madison, the peabody. these hotels are romantic in feel, usually they have good service, food is adequate to good, and space and appointments are very decent. they are very clean---a big thing in my book. i know a former assistant manager at the peabody, and she left hotel management in the city, dc, to take her position at the peabody. she sings its praises privately, and she would not return to washington, according to her. i love the peabody and i have often stayed there. much of my family, when visiting the city, hold up there for about 14-17 days at a time. they have never complained. some of this group has also stayed at the madison. they love it. i love rich color and intricate architecture. the peabody has it, along w/ the feel of the fairmont in new orleans, the adams in dc, or jackson hall in charleston. a good urban/modern alternative to the above would be the westin. nice, but not my thing because of modern take. hope this helps you decide. enjoy your visit to memphis, and have a great champagne cocktail at the peabody bar. forgot, the bruch is pretty decent at the peabody, too. finally, on the north side of downtown, you have the memphis marriot downtown. it is the largest hotel in the city, roughly 600 rooms. very respectable, and if big is your thing, then you might rather be in this hotel. remember, the marriot is north of the entertainment district; the others are located right at the beginning of the south main district, a distance of several blocks from the marriot. have a great time!

Peabody has terrible service!!!! Took them 4.5 hours to get me a pillow!!! Overpriced....
I'd rather stay in the Embassy Suites which is in Eastgate/Balmoral area..
The only thing is that the Embassy doesn't have a Jacuzzi in the normal suites...
They do in the higher up ones though
What are you going to be doing in Memphis though?

I'd chose the Madison.
If you go to the Memphis forum on tripadvisor.com, you will find a lot more info than you can get on here. Many reviews from other travelers and people who stay at hotels in Memphis on a regular basis.
