Ditto. If you don't know anyone here, it's best to get a property management agent to help you find something. They can meet you, talk to you on the phone, and have a good idea of what is best for you. Midtown is great, but does have a lot of bad areas. A lot of people advertise "MIDTOWN" in ads, when the unit is not actually in midtown, or is on the far edges that isn't safe. If you can't get an agent, come here a couple times before moving to scope out the areas and look around. A lot of people only advertise by using yard signs "For Rent" and not in papers or online. So it's best to drive around and look yourself, or get an agent that can do it for you.

Since I'm not there yet, I don't have a whole lot of advice, except look early and DON'T move into a place without actually seeing it. 99% of the places I saw online that I loved were really sketchy, and one that I hadn't even considered ended up being just the right thing.
Good luck!
