I'll go first!!

My name is Emily, I'll be a month shy of the big 3-0 when we get to Memphis. My husband is employed with the FAA and is going to be working at the Center there in Memphis. We have 2 school age kids, 2 cats and a dog (though we're not sure she knows she is a dog!). I will not be working, so I am not job hunting.

I am nervous and excited about our move all at one time. I was raised in a big city so I am used to city life. After living the past 5 years (more like stuck the past 5 years) in a rural area, I am thrilled to be going back to a city! That is probably what I look forward to most. Also, my kids have never seen snow (having lived in the deep south for most of my life), so the opportunity for a few snow falls is very exciting! It's the perfect amount too. Not so much that you spend an entire winter shoveling snow!!

The part I am most worried about is child care! Silly I know! I have been used to living near family for so long and always having a baby sitter for anything day or night. I have some odd health issues that require frequent visits to the Dr and it will be frustrating making appts for when I can go without the kids. I am hoping to find a good babysitter ASAP! I have never left my kids with anyone other than family or a very close friend. So this will be a challenge!

Not sure how many visits you all are planning, but we are going up in Sept over labor day to get to know the area some. I'll be going back in Oct to try and secure a rental house.

we've known about our move since Jan and I can't believe it's now just a few months away!!

Pixiepony, I too work for the FAA as an ATC and am considering moving to the area (Memphis center) as well.

I'd like to hear his thoughts on the facility...

What areas are you all looking at? We're mainly interested in Midtown. However, we'll be checking out alot of other areas as well. I plan on taking lots of pictures when we go in Sept. Let me know wht areas you are looking at and if we are in those areas, I'll be sure to take pictures.

Well, if you have schooled age children, you won't want midtown.. There are some areas off of Shady Grove and Mendenhall area that are very close to midtown.. but have White Station..
