Default State income tax

Hello everyone, as everyone may know, I'm relocating to memphis this november. Someone was telling me that Tn doesn't have any or very little income tax. Also they said that Tn makes that up by having a higher sales tax. Can someone enlighten me on the income tax?

Im guessing we get federally/locally taxed but not state taxed, is this right?

I'm trying to see if i'll get paid a bit more because of this, thanks!

Everything you wanted to know and more. Read at least until you get to the part about sales tax being different by county and city. Somewhere around the 9th post or so. Couple of good links in there.

BWM is on a distinguished road
There is no income tax on earned income. There is an income tax on interest and dividend above a certain amount. Sales tax in Shelby county is 9.25% non food and 7.75% for food.
