Default Moving to Memphis

Dear All,

My husband and I with our two kids will move to Memphis next month (job relocation). We are looking for houses in Cordova. The reason we want to live in Cordova is that it's close to both where my husband and I will work. We found a house from online which we like it very much and also the price is within our budget. It's located on South Sanga Rd. Before next step, we would like to get more information about neighborhood, schools, etc about this area. Here are our several questions.

1. This part of Cordova hasn't been annexed to the City. Do you know when (an estimate) it will be annexed? Would the price drop if it's annexed?

2. Which elementrary school for this area? How is it?

3. How is the neighborhood?

I appreciate your valuable information in advance.

Lee

I haven't heard of any recent plans by the city to annex anyone. So you might be good on that end. As far as schools, I have no idea what the zoning is for that area. Overall, the schools are good in that area. Neighborhood is fine. Area is real nice. You won't have any problems.

Another large part of "Cordova" known as Bridgewater is on the annexation schedule. I believe it is due to be annexed in 2013. I believe the boundaries for Bridgewater are Whitten Rd. on the west, Shelby Farms on the South, Appling on the east, and 1-40 to the north. In all likelihood the price would probably drop some when the area is annexed because people will probably try to move out in droves, flooding the housing stock in the area. However, this area was on the annexation schedule for 2007 and several people began to move when they heard about that. This may help the overall stability of the area since most of the movement may have already taken place, but I would not bank on that if I was concerned about re-sale. I think the elementary school may be Dexter Elementary. The neighborhood is fine, it is just a little unstable because of the annexation fears.

If you are talking about somewhere further east like Eads or something you are way off of the annexation radar.

Default Search CD for Cordova TN

Please search CD for cordova tn, you might find something. But as far as i have been reading here looks like in cordova (not all parts) the house prices are going down because of annexation and all the schools are falling under Memphis City schools which is not considered to be good.

The crime is also going up in cordova. You can find a house in your budget in Bartlett which is also good.

At first i thought of posting the links in the thread but then they get inactivated/removed i guess.

I am saying all this from what i have read here on CD and just thought of warning you so you might not end up in any problems.

Best of luck.
