Maybe. I couldn't care less either way. There are two things, though, that irritate me about this board:

1) Exaggerating Memphis' problems, and

2) Understating Memphis' problems.

Why are you on here then if you couldn't care less about people's questions?

Um, Pearlbob, the poster I responded to did not ask a question -- Thus, your snarky post to me makes no sense whatsoever.

I couldn't care less whether the poster lives in Collierville or Memphis.

Again, the poster did not ask a question, so your comment is baseless. I like you much better when you're not so argumentative, btw.

Well...there was a question mark in what she wrote, that usually indicates a question.

I don't understand what everyone's beef is with Memphis. Maybe it's just where I come from?
I think that's called a rhetorical question, Pearlbob. Thus, not actually a question requiring an answer.

Well right, but unless the person joined the forum to ponder the meaning of life, I imagine he's posting things because he wants some feedback and not just to hear his own voice (or...hear his own keystrokes?)

Regardless, it seems like people either love Memphis or hate it. On here and in real life. There aren't too many people who readily give pros and cons and seem to have a more balanced opinion.

I've found that there's a consistent group of posters who give both pros and cons, two or three who are consistent at listing just cons, and no one giving just pros.

I try to fall into the first group, but depending on my mood and how much I've been jerked around at work (I work in City Hall), I may lean heavily one direction or the other.

Ditto. Watching the news at night may sway me to the negative side for a day here and there.

There is still much to be said about the positives reguarding Memphis as a whole. As far as places to reside, the small towns remain Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett.....Collierville has great schools, and these three towns are incorporated, as separate entities from Memphis { not able to be annexed}....The crime rate in the inner city is as bad as ever , but many new places up and coming in the downtown area and Riverside....I have lived in or near Memphis maybe 30+ yrs.....It's still a great city , and the blues, and BBQ......well, speak for itself ~ Good Luck, Missy
