It impacts everybody, because the message from this I am twelve years old and I can go out and have one or five kids as well, and the beat goes on. We need to lead by example, and a good example is to keep it in your pants and don't create what you can't afford. The message should not be "Its OK to be imoral and the government will take care of you.

I hope this twelve year old has good parents around so they won't have to look up to the mayor. It's there job to raise their children anyway. Not politicians.

Hmmm...A couple of examples come to mind right away:

Shake the Haters Off.

Celebration of Three 6 Mafia for the success of "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp".

Celebrating thug culture is celebrating dysfunction.

I agree. But your only talking about part of the problem. What about the celebration of confederate past. What about celebration of a culture that doesn't understand how to embrace cultural diversity. What about the culture of entitlement. There is so much more to think about when talking about the dysfuntional culture of Memphis.

Not everyone is going to think alike. Not everyone is going to embrace the same thing. Too many Memphians don't think so. Everything tends to be in black and white in this town until it excludes them.

Please don't give mis-info. You can't even substitute teach in Memphis w/out a college degree. All teachers have a college degree. A provisional is to get a teaching certificate which requires a certain number of education hours.

No offense to anyone, but I realize this thread has gotten way off topic in previous posts and should be closed. Thank you to everyone who replied with actual good things about our city.
