Need help please!!!!
Moving to Memphis is 3 weeks...
I'm looking for a nice apartment in a safe area for around $700. I have been searching around on the net at a few blaces but would love some feedback from current Memphians. I need a place not far from Collins St. between Sam Cooper and Poplar. I am open to any help.
These are the places I have researched.
The Apartments at Peabody Place 130 S Front St.
The Renaissance 99 North Main
Ten Mile Creek 2718 Claudette Street
Blair Tower 810 Washington
750 Adams Placee 141 Noth Manassas
The Gilmore 6 S McLean Ave.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

No to Blair Tower for sure.
Now to 750 Adams for sure.
The Gilmore in midtown is very nice, but old. So if you don't mind living in an old building that has "old" mystique, it's great. People love it there.
Peabody Place is good, small units, but nice. Parking downtown can be rough though, so that is much different than you'll deal with in midtown.
99 North Main is okay I think, but I hate the way they look on the outside Some units seem to have big balconies overlooking the river though.
Never heard of Ten Mile Creek or Paulette Street in my life.

Do you have transportation?
Peabody Place: is to far away and probally to expensive, but there nice
Renaissance: I suppose this is 99 tower. I use to live there years ago. It wasn't to bad. Actually I liked it very much, but that was 20 years ago
Ten Mile Creek: Never heard of that one
Blair Tower: I knew a girl that lived there....Man was she a psycho
750 Adams: They are in the middle of no mans land and seem nasty
The Gilmore: Very good location. Very old building so not sure of the amenitys
This is about as close as I can find to Poplar@Collins

I googled it at apartmentfinders. They map it as being at American way not too far from Getwell. Bunch of office parks over that way, and the Mall of Memphis. (Is that mall still dead?)
Not one of the better areas of town.

Thanks for your replies guys! I'm really open to anywhere as long as it isn't a 30 min commute to work. All suggestions are welcome. Thank you guys!

30 minute commute in mphs means you can live anywhere you want.
I suppose you have transportation?
What are your intrest?
Do you have children?
Do you like city or suburban lifestyle?
For $700 a month I beleive you could find a decent house. Unless you prefer apt life.

I would prefer a house but I'd rather live there awhile so that I can better choose a neighborhood for myself. I have no children...and I love to shop, eat out, and I just think Memphis is a great city. The commute...30 mins I meant with traffic. I would love to be close to work but it seems that the area isn't so good. The job is located on Collins St. Is East Memphis a bad area? What would be a good area to start seriously looking?
Yes, I have transportation.
