Default The Venue apartments - Central Street?

Does anyone have any information on this complex? I'm posting for my brother, who is moving from a Boston suburb to Memphis for work next month. Obviously he'd like low rent, but a good neighborhood is ideal.

Any suggestions on looking for apartments site-unseen? He is considering moving into a shortterm housing option, like a hotel so he can have some time to actually see places before committing.

I think most people have a pretty strong opinion on sight unseen here!! Most say dont do it and I have to agree. He'd be much better of doing an extended stay at a suite or short term lease so he would have time to look.

we are moving next month as well and did 2 trips to Memphis. Of course I understand that is not always possible.

I have heard both good and bad on the Venue. We actually considered it. However, only 1 bathroom in a 2 bedroom is not cool. Plus we have a large dog and that's sort of a pain in a building like that. They did look pretty cool from the outside and seemed to be in a decent area. I hear the laundrey room calls your apt when the load is done! For a single person, it'd probably be great, but I'd advise against it if he has a family.

There are so many complexes and alot seemed really nice from online searches, but seeing them in person was completly different.

Is he looking to stay in Memphis or in any certain parts of Memphis (ie Downtown, Midtown)? What are his preferences? Rent? That will help anyone give advice on where to look.

Also you can search this forum by apartment name to find threads that mention them. I did that and found several references to places I was looking at.

We ended up choosing Uptown Square. It fit our needs perfectly. Check them out too. They are much newer (remodeled) than The Venue, which I hear is still undergoing a remodel and there is quite a bit of construction activity.

I thought it was a retirement high-rise until recently. It has always seemed shady - like they are desperate for residents. "The Venue"? What kind of name is that? If he wants to be in midtown, he can rent a duplex in the area for the same amount if not less, and be in a better situation.

Hello, which suburb? I just moved from Waltham. There are a ton of extended stay hotels in E. Memphis right on Poplar heading towards Germantown. There are also some good apartment communities in this area. If he is working in E. Memphis area these might be good for him. If you have not checked out Apartment Ratings :: The leading source of apartment reviews by renters for renters. that is a good place to check. Not always reliable but helpful.
