Oh c'mon, now! The Sun records of Jerry lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Roy Orbison; Stax records of Sam and Dave, Wilson Pickett, Booker T and the MGs; Memphis has a legendary history of recording.

And one of the most famous songs in rock history is Chuck Berry's own Memphis . Covered by Johnny Rivers, Lonnie Mack (instrumental) and well known at home and abroad (esp. British invasion).

Memphis certainly has earned its rightful place in music and to be named along with these other cities.

Umm Elvis Presely, birth place of Rock n Roll, Sun Records, Beale Street, Sam Phillips.....Take a history of Rock n Roll class and you will understand why Memphis get's mentioned so much in popular music. Just took a trip out there back in March and I toured Sun Records and I can honestly say I was overwhelmed with the amount of history in that one tiny recording room.

First Rock N Roll song recorded at Sun Records

Rocket 88 by Ike Turner/Jackie Brenston 1951

because Dallas has a sizeable electronic music scene. Lots of Global Djs come here often, so that's why. I know because I'm a huge dance music fan and go to lots of shows.

Sounds like someone took a geography class in high school and thus knows the names of some cities in the US, which is a step ahead of 87% of American kids.

The word Baghdad just sounds cool IMO and the same with Memphis. It is a song so I'm sure that would have something to do with it.

It's House music man. It's a lot bigger in Europe than the States. With the exception of Memphis (because I'm not sure), House is pretty big and all have an internationally renowned scene in the four American cities mentioned.

Dallas/Fort Worth is also the fourth largest metro in the country. That might be another reason it was Dallas was mentioned.

LOL. Euro house doesn't get much play in the VA? Truth is, that tune was a monster hit a few years back. It topped the charts all over the world. Peaked at 5 on the dance charts here in the US.
