Default Wanna buy a house in the White Station area

Hi guys
I just came back to Memphis and will start looking at houses in the white station area this weekend. I like that area since I heard a lot professors at U of M are living in that area and the price may not be so high (My budget is 180k to 250k). I don't really care about the size since only my husband and I will live in that house for most of the time, or a baby the next year if I get the luck. And I know the area is a good area and thus I may not concern about security either. But I am looking for a house with two stories and the WS area may not have many.

I really want to buy a house withine 25 minutes drive to u of m and with two stories. And good, secure area, of course.

I am aslo looking for a buying agent but now I don't know how to search for one. Any information is useful for me and I do appreciate your kind help. I really feel excited!

When you say "White Station Area" do you mean in the White Station school districts or in the area adjacent to White Station Rd.? Sections of White Station extend into Eastgate/Sea Isle which is a great area, but it is not in the White Station school district. To be in the White Station school district you will have to stay north of Poplar. You should be able to find a nice house in the area with the price range you quoted.

Is there a reason it needs to be two stories? There are lots of affordable options for smaller houses in the WSHS district, but not for two story homes. With your budget, you'd either most likely need to get a smaller home (most small homes aren't going to have a second story, period) or move outside of the WSHS district.

I'm not sure if I understand your criteria...you want to be in White Station schools, or at least 25 minutes to UM? 25 minutes away could be anywhere, in any suburb. And being in the suburbs is a lot different than being in Memphis city near UM.

Thank you, Tigertate. I may want to be in the white station school district since I want to stay north of poplar. And a good school district is always a merit of a community no matter if I have a kid or not.
I drove to the area yesterday and found a small amount of houses with two stories and I hope I will find more tomorrow that is within my price range.
Where to find a buying agent? I googled but fruitless.

Yeah, I noticed that problem. not many two-story houses in WSHS.
And I am sorry for misleading. I meant if ws does not work out, I will look for a house that is within 25 minutes drive to U of M. Now I am living in east memphis 38120 and may take me over 30 minutes drive during busy hours and I don't think living in bartllet or cordova will take less time.

So I will keep eyes open if WS does not work out for us.

I would start at the intersection of N. White Station Rd. and Mason Rd. That vicinity is the area you are refering to if I'm correct. I would also give the intersection of Walnut Grove Rd. and High Point Terrarce a try. That one may not be considered the "White Station area" but is pretty much the same thing and is a closer drive to the UofM.

Ok,

There really isn't a "White Station" area..

Look at my map (sticky) and you'll see the area you are really inquiring about is Brennan.

The middle and high school district run pretty far east actually, over as far as the Galloway golf course and further for the middle school. If you are looking to stay within school districts because of resell value, the north/south boundaries are probably more constricting.

Yorkshire/EastGate would be good. Even if you were FARTHER east in either River Oaks or Bal-Moral (you'll get a little more bang for your buck)
