Burglary in apt (Memphis: apartment complex, home security, subsidized)

A terrible burglary happened during the day yesterday in my apt in Cordova. The burglars seemed to have checked every single cornor of the rooms and all my stuff were scattered all over the place. I am still relatively new to Memphis and this is the first burglary I have ever experienced in my life.

Have already made some investment today to tighten home security. Longer term, definitely moving out of Memphis, this is such a horrible experience.

Just wanted to make you all aware that as the holiday season coming up, it is increasingly more important to pay attention to your home security. Here is to wish everyone a safe holiday.

I hate hearing this happened to you. Break-ins and burglaries happen all to often in this town. No doubt they happen in other places and apartments are a magnet for this type of thing (hard to know who belongs and who doesn't in an apartment complex), but the frequency with which this happens to people who are relatively new residents of the area is sickening. Too large a segment of the population of the Memphis metro area lives off the hard work of others. Whether it is begging (which is generally just annoying), spending generations on welfare or in subsidized housing, or taking from others through larceny, burglary, or robbery, it needs to end.
