This is one of the apartment complexes I was talking about in my earlier post. Couldn't remember the name of it. This place is right by the Wolf River Greenway. There is also another trail/walkway right near there as well. Can't remember what it is called.

I'm in this complex temporarily as well (working at the same company as Carolina Texan). It has zero character or charm but is perfectly nice, clean and quiet and seems absolutely safe. Lovely surrounding areas. If safety/quiet are the biggest concerns, this place has it. Extremely boring, though.

Germantown is it's own city. A majority of "Cordova" has been annexed into the Memphis city limits. Germantown is a better option if you have the money, and you are looking for a stable, safe city. There are a lot of unknowns about Cordova due to the annexation.

However if you are just looking for a temporary apartment, none of that really matters. Gtown is overall safer and quieter, but more expensive and has less rental options.

thanks pearlbob! this is very helpful.
i think i am leaning towards renting a house in germantown come beginning of the year - then learning my way around, figuring out the housing market and then purchasing the following year

It is technically in Shelby County. It's location though is on the Germantown, Shelby County boarder. I don't know about this place. It looks like a nice complex and from what I've read online has good management but it is right next to 385. Seems like there would be to much noise. I'd look for something that's not right next to the interstate.

Try the Park Estate apartments in East Memphis. It's a nice and safe area. There are also a few more complexes in this area that will offer the same thing.
