There was also a Shakey's on Summer Avenue near Mendenhall, and one on Brooks just off what is now called Elvis Presley Blvd. I took my girlfriend (now my wife for almost 39 years) to the one on Brooks one Saturday evening when we were 19 years old. Legal drinking age was 21. Shakey's had two different sections...adults and kids. They wouldn't let us sit in the adult section since we were underage, even though we weren't drinking. We left and went to Pizza Hut instead, where we could sit anywhere we wanted. Never went back to Shakey's...

Al's Golfhaven was on Perkins between I-240 and what is now American Way. I remember the driving range and the putt-putt golf, but I can't remember what else was there. Probably batting cages. I don't think they had go karts.

Yep....I remember 'em...

We went to one all the time in Northern CA, near SF. My sister had her birthday there one year, about 30 years ago!

I used to love Shakey's as a kid. They were all over Florida. There used to be one here in Knoxville that was next door to a Swensen's ice cream parlour. It was kind of a tradition to go to Shakey's for pizza then Swensen's for ice cream. They're both gone.

I can still remember the Shakey's jingle from their TV commercials.

I loved Shakey's and went to the Whitehaven and Southaven locations frequently as a kid. It was great watching them toss the dough and making the pizzas through the window. As teens attending school in Midtown, me and my friends hung out often at the one on Poplar at Belvedere. I think we went there after every home football game. Maybe all those teens without money hanging out is what drove Shakey's out of business?
