The Holiday Inn on campus is already booked for the weekend. We might just look for something on I40 west of Memphis.

I am completely used to living in an area with bad public transportation, so what you guys are saying sounds quite familiar with me. The reason I wasn't wanting to drive is to get hit with the parking fees/hassles (especially at the stadium). I don't drink so I have already been pegged as the DD if we need to drive, but most of our party is staying at the Crown Plaza. Myself and a few others don't want to pay $200 for a few hours of sleep - hence the need for a economy hotel.

It looks like things are getting booked pretty quick for the game. Expect a lot of "woo pig sooie" on Beale street for New Years Eve.
might as well keep your tax $ in Arkansas.I'm no expert on West Memphis, but theres a Holiday Inn right off 40 by the dog track and a Hampton Inn next Door. Google the above 4 info

A good rule of thumb. Any 39-59 dollar hotel are gonna be filled w/drug addicts, theifs, prostitutes, body odor and head lice

Go Hog's

This isn't good. I have a friend of a friend who has regular season tickets trying to get me some. Hopefully the season ticket holders have a pool to choose from.

As for hotels, Southaven is only 13 to 15 miles from the stadium and is probably one of the safer places to stay. Same for Olive Branch but it will add a few miles to the drive. I'd open up my extra rooms but I already have Hog fans coming.

I got a motel in Forrest City, AR. It is on my way in/out of Memphis and it wasn't marked up for the weekend.

I will just have to drive myself to Beale/Liberty Bowl.

I don't drink. I was already pegged as the DD. Forrest City was an option because it was on our way in and out of Memphis.

Since posting that I found a sweeter deal in W. Memphis. Hopefully I will live to tell you all about it on January 3.

Wow! Forrest City is almost an hour from here, on the always crowded I-40. And the construction leading into Memphis on I-40 is atrocious right now. (IE take I-55!)

West Memphis is much, much closer, still have to deal with the construction and traffic congestion though.

OP, Definetaly avoid the new bridge (I-40) There doing siesmic work and have it shut down to 1 lane at times

As PB said, take I-55 to Crump Blvd, Crump to Central Ave, Central to LB

Thanks for the construction info. I had no idea that they were working on the roads.

I thought Forrest City was closer to Memphis until I looked at it on mapquest. That is when I changed my plans.
