That is where our illustrious former mayor convinced Mata and Greyhound to move their intermodal facility in order to get Greyhound out of their Downtown location near Union and Third St, thereby allowing him to acquire the option to buy said property. He then sold the option to another company and made a nice chunk of change ($91K if my memory is correct). I do not know why the feds had so much trouble trying to nail him for this. It seems pretty cut and dry to me. As mayor he was able to broker a deal that would move a business off property that he knows as mayor he wants to use for convention space, by promising that company a shiny new state of the art facility funded with public money. He then with inside information swoops in a buys the option on the property for chump change then sells it for a substantial profit by telling people that he will explore building new convention center space on that site. If that is not illegal what is?
