So this happened to me.

I used to live with my family in Midtown. We lived there about 2 years and couldn't wait to leave. finally, we found a nice apartment in Olive Branch. When we moved I called MLGW and asked them to send me a final bill to the new address. Well, it arrives and it is $467.00. That is 2 months worth. I call them up to tell them I do not have that kind of money right now, but I would like to set up some kind of payment arrangements. The lady at MLGW tells me - sure, when do you want to start paying - ?

I say -oh, maybe in the first week of April?-
She says-ok, I will set it up so you have to pay on the 7th of every month up until June 7th-
I say - Alright, thanks.

Well, April 7th rolls around and I really do not have the money to pay them, the $ 152.00 that would be their first payment. I have so many payments and bills due that week that really are more important to pay at this time. So I call MLGW and explain that. I also explain that in two weeks, I will be able to pay the entire amount of $467.00. I also mentioned that rather then paying in 3 months installments, I am sure they would have no problem doing this for me. I even offered to have them deduct it from my bank account automatically on that date.
But , I was wrong. I was told that if they did not get their money, the $152.00, on the 7th, that this would be sent to collections! After she telling me that, I ask her if she can give me a number or an address where I can send the money to, sense MLGW do not want it. She then tells me that I still have to make a payment to MLGW, but it would be a mark on my credit and there is nothing they can do about it.

I just don't get it. What kind of customer service is that! I later find out that MLGW is on the dirt bottom in customer service rating
MLGW ranks last in customer-satisfaction survey » The Commercial Appeal
Surprise surprise.

She probably could have been more helpful, but they did you a favor by setting up a payment arrangement in the first place; they don't really HAVE to work with you at all. So...yeah, they're rude and unhelpful sometimes, but you're the one who isn't paying them for services you received.

And Olive Branch over Midtown? Really?

Sounds to me like MLGW bent over backwards to help you, then you decided to change the deal on your own terms. It doesn't work that way. You should have honored your agreement with the understanding that MLGW was under no obligation to make any agreement with you in the first place.

I know they don't have to help me but I was just surprised that they did not want all their money rather then in installments. But I guess that's how they work. Thanks anyways. And yes, I prefer Olive Branch over Midtown. It is safer here and I have a small child. He is starting school soon and I refuse to put my son in Memphis City, I am sure you can appreciate that. If I was single I might have stayed in Mid Town.
