The river itself simply cannot support another bridge. There are already turbidity issues brought about by the ones that are there now.

I'm assuming you mean another bridge in the downtown area, and not another bridge period.

That's right. If one could be built a few miles up or down the river, that would be better.

Thanks in advance

Someone has recommended me the Shady Grove area. What do you think about the area? I am not sure which area though, but probably on Shady Grove Rd.

My wife also try to get an apartment for us and she said she likes this one. What do you think about the area?

Those apts seem like they should be in an okay area. I'm not too familiar with that particular neighborhood...sort of south of 40, off Whitten, but that should be okay.

The Shady Grove area is great. Towards east Memphis, Germantown.

Thank you! I think I am leaning more and more to Cedar Ridge which is more like a house than apartment.

Maybe this is a weird question, but do Memphis people use Amtrack for in-town commute? It is pretty close to Amtrack train station.

There is no train station there. I live close to this apartment complex and the tracks that run through this area are no longer operational. There is no commuter rail in the Memphis area.

Default I prev. lived at Houston Levee

My family and I lived in Houston Levee Apt's. When we first moved in the apt's were nice as far as apt living goes. We lived there for almost 2 yrs, and really noticed a deterioration in the property. They have security gates, but were broken most of the time from people forcing them open. Plus they have a generic code to get in and many of the residents would freely give this code out so the gates were not really that secure. Plus when we moved out the new management at the time really gave us a hard time about our deposit. There had been a couple of stains/marks on the flooring in the kitchen (one in the kitchen and one in the laundry area which were present when we moved in) and they wanted to charge us $800 to replace all the flooring. Plus they wanted to charge us more (I think something like $600) to re-paint the whole apt. I had bought some paint from the previous management and painted the whole apt before I moved out, so it didn't need painting.

That said, it has been a couple of years since we lived there and there may be new management by now. But our experience wih the apt complex as a whole was not a good one.

Good luck,

I decide to try to live in an apartment at least for my first year (as soon as I know the area, I will look for the house). I come here with my wife and a friend, so I need at least 2BR.

Currently, I have two apartment complex in mind, one is

Stonebridge Crossing, Stonebridge Crossing in Cordova, TN

and

Houston Levee,
Houston Levee in Cordova, TN

Both are in Cordova and seem to be pretty close to I-40 that I would use to commute to downtown where I will work. I try to avoid Germantown Rd as Pearlbob suggested. Downtown and Mud Island should be nice, but I hope to find a house with a big yard, so I might try to get used to long commute

I plan to drive to Memphis and look around the area soon, but anyone know if area is good/safe? Someone has said in another thread that Stonebridge should be ok, but nobody mentions Houston Levee.
