I loved taking the train while we were in the UK, however it can be loud so I might take along some ear plugs and if you like to listen to headphones, bring along some of your favorite music.
It was nice because the traffic bothered me in the UK. It felt like everyone was driving at a breakneck speed but I am sure it had more to do with it all being so new and being on what I think of as the wrong side of the road.

Suzette - that's a brilliant idea, I may have to try that. Thanks!
Good luck with the train ride. I'd make sure you've got something to distract you properly, like something that will keep your hands moving (what about a travel board game?), or think of something engaging to talk about with the family. If not, there's always the Klonopin so at least you know you have fall back! I'm sure it'll be fine, have a great time

If you were round London you were almost certainly right - there's no way I'd drive any further south than the M25! I always take the train when I can, it's almost the only type of transport than normally doesn't bother me. If I'm bad though and on my own so can't talk, I avoid looking out of the window at nearby scenery as it sets me off seeing things go past really quickly. I keep my focus on the distance and try to relax into the seat.

I remember when I was going to Abingdon from the airport, I was exhausted, it felt like we were hurdling down the highway.
I loved London in so many ways but the crush of people, the noise and the smell was overpowering. We went to the market on Portobello road and it was so much fun but it was overwhelming at times.
I much preferred the country, we stayed in the Cotswolds for three months. I used to go for long walks with my daughter in her stroller in the evenings. I saw the most beautiful parks, everyone had a pretty kitty in their front garden, under the trees there were bunnies. It was all just amazing.

The ear plugs really seem to work for me. If the loudness in the theater gets to you as it does me, then definately try it. A bag of popcorn helps too . Lol.
I am going to bring my knitting, if the needles are allowed on the train. I read what you can bring and cant bring, I didnt read anything about knitting needles. We actually do have some travel board games in our storage space. That is a good idea, thanks for reminding me .
Even though it makes me anxious, I am sure we are going to have a great time. The train ride should be pretty.

Since coming to understand this situation with anxiety and panic attacks I have been going over alot of my behaviors.
I watch alot of TV, I find it calming and it distracts my mind. I also play video games alot, they remove me from my anxiety ridden reality, it distracts enough of my mind that I don't worry so much.
I find that I no longer can even sit down and read a book. I can't concentrate that long. I used to be a varacious reader, thats no longer the case.

Hey Lindsey,
I know what you mean about not being able to sit and read a book. It is hard for me to just sit and relax, and read a book. I try to read magazines, I can get through them a bit better than books. Maybe cuz there are pictures in the magazines .....Lol.
I play the original mario brothers on the original netendo(sp?) system. It is the only one I can play...My daughters have all the new games, to me trying to learn how to work the stupid remotes causes me to get anxious
I am actually having a hard time tonight.. . My panic comes in waves, and for the last few days it has flaired up a bit. I really hate when the anxiety comes back. I shut down as a person. I dont care about stuff like I normally do. It is hard for me to even Mod on here sometimes, cuz when I get anxious it is hard for me to concentrate on reading everything, but then on the other hand, I am grateful to be a Mod on here because most of the time it gives me something to do, so I dont panic...Lol. Go figure

I also have alot easier time reading magazines. I have also enjoyed reading some books of short stories as well.
I LOVE Mario, I have the old games and all the new ones as well.
I can't even sit still and watch just TV. I always have either my computer on my lap or a hand held video game.

The Cotswolds are really lovely - I drove through a couple of times last year and remember thinking it would be a wonderful place to live - if I won the lottery! Where I live is nice and quiet but not as picturesque - it's very flat and the housing is about a third of the price down south!
It's a very small "city" though, so I'm always bumping into people I know in town and we have a cathedral at the top of a hill. I like to walk up to it if I'm a bit anxious in the evening sometimes, which takes about half an hour but it's worth it, especially if it's flood lit. There's a bench opposite the facade where I used to sit and draw odd bits of it, like a gargoyle or part of a spire. Really peaceful.

I'm going somewhere on holiday this week but my boyfriend won't tell me where. Thinking either somewhere here or maybe Eurostar, hope we're not flying!

I hear you about having one or the other on your lap. For me, it would be my computer. When I get anxious, I just need to start typing and then before I know it, the anxiety has passed. I know this isnt the only way to get rid of attacks but it sure helps me when nothing else does.
The old Mario is so much fun!! I do love playing it. I cant get into the new ones, like I said they make me anxious just trying to figure out how to use the controls
