I divorced my first wife because she had grown increasingly abusive to me -- verbally and emotionally, not physically. What drove me over the line to seek legal counsel was my fear that I would respond by physically retaliating. I literally feared for her safety. I knew that sooner of later, unless we made a change, I was going to hurt her.
I am posting this for all the men out there who might be experiencing the same thing I did, locked into an abusive relationship with a cowardly woman (yes, women can be cowards, when they take advantage of their gender and men's natural aversion to violence against them) who assumes that you will not retaliate. Those of us who have been raised by good parents know that it is never right to strike or harm a woman. If you feel that you are reaching the end of your rope, seek help and do something about it. The violent alternative is never worth it, and carries with it painful consequences for everyone involved, especially children, who learn from what they see.
