I agree. And speaking of "confronting the problem" head-on, when you get yourself antidepressants, you're doing just that. You're getting in your depressions's face and telling it to [4-letter-word] off.

I'll give that posted credit for not suggesting meditation or something equally inane.

SAM-E works best for me. But old school tricyclics help agitated depression for me best vs SSRI's as zoloft, etc.

Some anger, depression, anxiety etc. seem 2ndary to bipolar or even agitated depression. V tricky diagnosis probs, & only good docs can discern it. Just my experience.

My psychologist says many diagnoses are difficult to come by, as many symptoms are shared by numerous
illnesses.

I agree about anxiety and depression as to bipolar.

It’s different for everyone. For me, they helped for a long time then the depression worsened. My doctor added a small dose of another drug, which helped. Now I’ve switched to a newer antidepressant and it’s helping. Maybe after several years (17 years in my case) on one drug, it isn’t as effective.

I’ve tried several. They either didn’t do anything or just gave me side effects without any benefits. It’s different for everyone though.

I am not against antidepressants.

I have tried various, they made me feel kinda zombie'ish, like I was spacy and disjointed from my actual self. Maybe will try again in the future......but was not impressed with past experiences. And the whole thingy about finally finding an AD that works well...........then it gradually stops being effective after a while, that is pretty rank.
