Congrats! The great thing about quitting, is that you are instantly a nonsmoker, where as someone who just started a diet is still overweight. The patch worked for me, nonsmoker since July'07.
Ha !! Good point.
Better still is with the money you are saving, it might fill your gas tank.... dont laugh.
Good idea. Start yourself a jar, and whatever you would have spent for cigs, put that in there. Get yourself something that you want, or need with the money at the end of the week, or month.
I have found that wellbutrin helped me, but I didn`t REALLY want to quit.
It helped with the cravings. Just A thought.
I'm wishing you the best of luck. I finally was able to quit after 3 or 4 tries and 18 weeks on the patch. This was in 1994 and I am so happy I am not a smoker anymore!!! I found that peppermint bubbleyum helped me through the oral cravings tremendously. I chewed it on and off for 2 or 3 years, then gradually got myself off of that. Good luck!!!!

Congrats Zona, almost year one
What was your means of getting through the jitters in the beginning? I woke up this morning and put on a patch. I've had the feeling all day that I am forgetting to do something. I'm completely jittered and disoriented.
I wish you best of luck with this. I quit 3 month ago cold turkey, and not looking back
My advise, instead of sitting at the computer, go and find something to do, something that keeps you busy. This way, you wont think about cigarettes. Exercising keeps me away from the dreaded stick and keeps me in shape.
Today is my second day on the patch and I do not feel like myself. For those who have made it past the first step of the patch, how long does this feeling last?
I really don't know that feeling will go away for good. I know people still crave a cigarette 10 years after. You have to keep telling yourself this is not what you need/want, don't let your craving control your life. Keep your mind occupied with other stuff. Now i know that every time i got bored or had nothing to do, i'll go and smoke, but if i found something else to do, the initial craving will go away. Think Roses not Cigarettes!!
Hang in there and you'll beat it, you will!
