I was in the tobacco shop yesterday as I was buying some coals for my hookah, and some pipe tobacco, and I had a chance to try the famous "electronic cigarette" after some bored clerk gave me a few drags. It actually looks and feels like a slightly more "virtual" version of smoking an actual cigarette. There is a buzz. The one at the store was selling for $70 and was apparently something you can charge through a USB.

Also, having smokes there was actually less tempting than a craving that escalated to the point where I was willing to run out and buy a pack.

One of my co-workers quit without any nicotine aids but she took years to really kick the habit. She quit and when the cravings got unbearable, she'd buy a pack and smoke (chain smoke) till she felt better and throw the pack away. It was an expensive way to quit but it worked for her and each time she could go longer and longer between buying a pack and smoking fewer (eventually just a drag or two) when she did buy some.

You can do this. You've actually done the hardest part already! Quitting sucks, in fact, knowing I'd have to go through that again is the best motivation I've got for never smoking again! Take a deep breath, put your patch on and quit again. This time will be easier than the last and every day you don't smoke will make it easier to not smoke the next day.

Next month will be three years quit for me. I still have almost a full but very open and stale pack of cigs in a drawer. I keep meaning to throw them out. I kept them so I would know that it was my choice to quit.

I quit cold turkey 1 year and 9 months ago when I found out that my dear sister-in-law had lung cancer. I quit when the drs told her to quit. I saw what she had to go through with the radiation, chemo treatments, and removing part of her lung and it scared me, plus I'd like to be around to see my 10 yr old son grow up to be a man.
Strong mints, (like Altoids), helped me when I got a strong urge for a cigarette. I would breathe in deeply and the strong vapor from the mint filled my lungs and made the cravings pass quickly.

edited to add...My sil passed away a couple of weeks after Christmas this year. I miss her so much, She was only 63.
