I've driven the S550 and the E550....V8 is definitely not loud.
Actually, the S550 can sound pretty mean... OUTSIDE the car. On the inside, you can't tell because they use so much sound deadening and thick carpet. If you're standing outside the car though and someone floors it, it's got a nice bark and roar to it for a stock exhaust.
I love the sound of that V8 and it pushes you back in your seat mighty fine. It isn't loud compared to a lot of the muscle car and honda guys in these parts.

Even if I made $500K+, the minimum for a $150K car (IMO), I'd rather spend $70K on a new Corvette 'vert and $80K on a new Cadillac CTS-V. The next gen V will have over 600HP, should get the Z06 drivetrain.
once upon a time, I went from a m5 to e55...e55 had more power but it just didn't handle as well...no doubt it had tons of power & had a nice interior. After few months, I dumped it & got mid engine sports car.
Don't get me wrong, its a great car for its target audience but the AMG divisions doesn't do it for me if are going to push it hard in turns.
Neither, its just a car but instead I would invest the extra $150,000.
