It is really difficult to say my favorite Mexican dishes. There are many, and I was privileged to have traveled through to Mexico in the 80's several times. What was always a pleasure for me was Empanadas, not sure of the origins, the Dominicans call them Pastelitos. I ate plenty in several of countries. But the friendships created eating in Mexico in those days still stay in my mind.

Pork tamales. Or chicken tamales from a street vendor with the entire leg inside. Had a great meal fixed for us by a lady north of Loreto-machaca, tortillas, some garden veggies and cheese made from her goats. Awesome!

I would like to see a lot more of this topic. I just had a really good mole de olla rojo earlier. I wish I had taken a picture of it to share but I just went straight ahead and ate it all up. More pictures are always good for a topic like this.

I shouldn't have done this, my mouth is watering just from looking at them.

Mexico and food! Two of my favorite topics! I don't even know where to start because I have had so much and tried many dishes through the years. Having lived in and around Mexico City for two years recently, the choices and versatility of the food was mind boggling. Quite honestly, I liked pretty much everything (few exceptions). However, if I had to make a short list, my favorite Mexican foods are: tacos al pastor, lentejas con tecino (lentils w/bacon), chiles rellenos, caldo de albondigas, tortillas (hecho a manos!), tamales, pozole, tacos de lengua, ensalada de nopalitos, guacamole, atole, and much, much more!!! The photos posted by the OP are wonderful!! All the responses to this thread are making my mouth water!
