Nice pix. An interesting blend of modern and classic architecture. I'll have to visit Mexico City someday!!

Default Thanks Carnival :(

So I'm sitting on the deck of my hotel and the cruise ship starts belching smoke on a nice hazy day. The ship wasn't getting underway or anything, I suspect they're burning trash or something.

You guys couldn't do that at sea?

Very nice pictures, but I have a strange request...

Anyone have any pictures of some really run down barrios? I'm talking bottom of the barrel. The media claims they're there, I want to see if they really are and if they're as bad as claimed.

I don't have photos handy, but trust me, they are there. I've had to travel for work to Mexico City, Monterrey, Leon, Saltillo, Juarez, and Nogales. With the exception of the last two, these cities have many beautiful and historic areas that are a pleasure to visit, and the vast majority of the people don't have things too bad. But when they say 'poverty' in Mexico it's not at all the kind of poverty we know in America. It made me shudder to look at the conditions some people live in. It's like seeing another planet, or getting a peek into a parallel universe. It's not something we Americans can even imagine. It's bad.

I see what you mean. This is what I was hoping to see. Reminds me of Bad Boys 2. I know this is probably not what you were referring to and there's much worse...but this is bad enough to me. I'd be literally afraid to walk through this.

Here are some pictures of Mexican slums.
