Oaxaca is a big state. Oaxaca city is a bit far from the beach. But there are many towns in that state with beautiful beaches.

Huatlco would be a good place to consider.

Cheers.

Partially correct. Zapopan, which is an integral part of metropolitan Guadalajara, has been a center for narco activity. Other parts of Jalisco are rated as/considered risky also. Generally, though, most of the Guadalajara, excluding Zapopan, has been relatively quiet.

My experiences have been ... that "hanging out" is about the same in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Certainly, there are some cultural differences ... but it's not all that different (hanging out).

I've heard good things about 3 locations. i listed them below and would appreciate feedback and/or new suggestions for areas I haven't considered.

I'm looking for decent or low cost of living, relatively safe, good internet speeds/reliability! I need internet.

1. Oaxaca
2. Playa Del Carmen
3. Baja Del Sur.. .maybe Todos Los Santos? I don't know specifically where.
Obviously, your first consideration has to be high-speed internet reliability. Since you really dont' tell us what other things are important factors in your selection process ... I don't know how much advice can beoffered regarding specific locations. Yoiu can learn Spanish anywhere in Mexico. The possibilities as to location are endless.
