Hello my friends!! i've been to Mexico a couple of times but never to Mexico City. I will be there for 5 days only and i was wondering what would be the best area(safest, close to restaurants and malls) to stay. How are taxis there? Do they use Uber there? I will have most nights free so let met know of some suggestions; dining, theatre( i love watching plays), lounge( a place to relax and flirt ). Anyways i appreciate any help

Stay at Paseo de la Reforma or Zona Rosa. Hotels of all prices and near of everything. Yes, you can use UBER in Mexico City. What to do? the possibilities are endless in a city of 20 million of people. Unique museums, parks, night life, the best theatre circuit in latinamerica. Check on tripadvisor, attractions of Mexico city, that will give you a hint.

Stay in Zona Rosa and you will think you are in a US city except for the language. Kind of sterile if you wanted to see something uniquely Mexican, but hassle free and safe if that's what you want.

I personally like Condesa, but you can't go wrong with Zona Rosa. Lots of small cool bars, cafes, restaurants. They are nice, safe walkable neighborhoods with TONS to do. Taxis are pretty easy to use and pretty safe. The Metro is also very affordable and quite safe.

Mexico City has so much art, but since you haven't been, I would suggest the double decker TURIBUS bus that is very affordable and takes you around to many of the tourist destinations (Anthropology museum, Chapultepec, etc...). You can get off and get back on as many times as you want all day long.

Condesa, Zona Rosa and Polanco are the obvious choices. I quite like the atmosphere in Coyoacan also, although it's a bit further away from the center.

Oh, I tell you about Tripadvisor mainly because Mexico City has so many places to visit that is overwhelming.

Where in Mexico City do you need to be everyday? I'd hate to tell you to stay in Coyoacan or Centro Historico if you have to be in an office or conference in Santa Fe promptly at 8AM every morning that you are there.

In that case staying in La Condesa or along Reforma Avenue makes perfect sense. There are plety of things to see. Quick question, how many days and or time will you have free to spare?
From any hotel in Reforma Av. you can go -walking if you want- all the way from Chapultepec castle to El Zocalo in downtown. Also in Zocalo, there are tourist buses that can take you to some of the most well known places/landmarks in the city.
Attractions along Reforma:
National Museum of Antrophology/Museo nacional de Antropologia, might take a whole morning.
Chapultepec hill/lake/castle, you can visit right after the aforementioned museum since they are relatively close.
In Reforma av. you can walk under the trees and admire really nice architecture and beatuful monumnts -save one that costed USD 200 million and is plain ugly- plus you can go to Revolution monument, the Alameda park, the palace of Bellas artes, and the Latinoamerican tower where you can go up to the last floor and see the city from up up. Also, next to the tower you'll find the pedestrian friendly Madero street, then the Zocalo, National palace, the cathedral, numerous museums and even the remains of ancient pyramids.
