Hello

A group of friends want to pool some money and buy a farm near Monterrey, Mexico. We were thinking of growing Indian and asian veggies/ fruits and get them back into USA. The price per acre and labor costs make this a bit attractive proposition.

We will hire local people there and we will drive there often from TX to manage the farm. We will have to stay on the farm when we go there.

The crime and drug cartel news is scary. What if they come and demand ransom etc.... Thoughts like this are pulling us back. Does any one have any experience there? Is it safe? will they trouble people who are farming, hiring locals?

any opinions?

Thanks

You are spot on and must be prepared to pay the price. NO ONE is exempt unless you are one of them. Simple as that. Just my opinion but not unfounded I assure you.

Better be totally familiar with the import/export rules.

Not the same area but near the border in Chihuahua ..... Mennonite farmers gave up because of hassles and money demands from the Cartels

Maybe because is a desert here?

I do not want to break your dreams but farm land is scarce and expensive in northeastern Mexico.
