A vast majority here are the end result of some " hanky panky" in the past. The ancesters were having a SEX field day. It is No wonder that people look so different. All the discussion is naught.

For a condensed version of European blood background Google up Wikipedia. History of Europe. It will give you an idea on how things developed towards what we have today. I studied that when College over 60 yrs ago. Wars and bloodlines changed. ( just something to read)

Like I said...a condensed version but still a good 5 mins of reading. Does pass over lightly over the 14 th and 15th century. I had a copy of "European History Past and Present" when in school that dealt in more info..think now in the 12th printing. Maps showed the size of the new conquested areas. Romans did their thing as did France and the English/Scots wars..just a matter of a conquest and spreading their seed. Spain and Italy along with French ( Canada) (I am from there originally). All one has to do is look at any dictionary to see the words origin..Fr, Sp, Ger, Gr, L etc. The influence was vast. Am not familiar with Mexico History but did attend school in Canada and did my College time in the US. Strange that each country has their own viewpoint on some parts of past history. Wonder how much Mexican students know about Canadian history...or for the US that matters. Sorry to have gone on a tangent...at times I do go off the beaten path..I teach and learn from others habits.

In comparison the US , there were 43.1 million people in poverty (2015). Furthermore, more than 75% of all poor households are headed single mothers (2012).

First world, well, the math on the poverty numbers not exact but close enough for a cigar if you count that.
It is much worse than that....here is the definition of poverty in Mexico.

For 2012, CONEVA defined the income‐based component of poverty(economic welfare line) as
those surviving on no more than 2,329 pesos (177 USD) per month in cities, and 1,490 (113 USD)
pesos per month in rural areas. 1 The exact level adjusts over time with the level of inflation for the
basic basket of goods needed to fulfill a household’s needs in Mexico.

That is 177 USD per month!!! in cities and 113 USD in rural areas!!! That is about 1200/year in rural areas.

full report here: https://www.wilsoncenter.org/sites/d...exico_2013.pdf

Social Deprivations
Include:
1. Education (access and
years completed)
2. Access to Health Services
3. Access to Social Security
4. Housing (Quality and
Space)
5. Basic Services (water,
sewer, electricity)
6. Food Security

I know Leo thinks the Mexican health system is better than the US, but the six factors above are what Mexicans in poverty lack in social services.

By comparison the poverty level in the US is almost 12,000 USD and all poor people have access to education and health services.

I'm one of those expats. Lived here full-time 2008-2012 but had to return to US for family eldercare issue.

Bought another home here last month (Lake Chapala).

No fears for personal safety; we have and will again, drive all over Central MX and fly to other MXN cities.

While there are cartel murders, they are mostly concentrated in cities I don't want or need to visit (mostly on the way to the border, along known drug routes). While there are murders in Central MX (Michoacan heats up from time to time) we have not let it stop us from traveling. The bad guys know this: Hands Off The Gringos. Unless you come down here looking for trouble, it won't find you.
