TJ Dentists
I have a business card of a dentist that a friend gave me. I emailed him in 2006, and his prices are reasonable, but I just haven't had the $$ to go. His name is:

Has anyone heard of him, and how far away from the border is his office?
Thanks!

This is an excellent thread, so $140 per crown? wow b2 through and through hear I go. It would be most cost effective for me to fly from Logan to Mexico and have my mouth all crowned. Thanks for this info. B2 is white, white white.... top to bottom and no fade. I'm in heaven.

My boss takes her brother who has no insurance to a place in Mexico for dental work.
This place is south of Texas. She said there are about 9 or 10 dentist offices which cater almost exclusively to Americans. She said they are trained in USA and has nothing but good words for them.
The only problem is walking across the border and seeing all the children either begging or trying to sell them curios. She said if you give one of the older children a dollar, they keep all the smaller kids off of you.

Dr. Samuel Velasquez on Ocampo Y Negrete is supposed to be very good. He's a referral from a friend. I emailed him and he promptly got back to me with his prices. Has anyone ever heard of him?
This is what he sent me:
X-rays - $5.00 each
Exam - $15.00
Deep cleaning - $40 per quadrant
Tooth whitening - $190

Dr Avila in Rosarito Beach has a sister Dra Irma Flora Avila D.D.S in Primo Tapia where I live and she has done minor work for me while also being very proficient. Very nice lady.

I'll post a comprehensive report later, but on Saturday August 15th, I have my final appointment with my doctor in TJ for installation of crowns and bridges covering my entire upper and lower mouth. Yup, the whole shebang. These will be porcelain over base metal etc.
A very informative and educational experience. He had to un-do several serious mistakes made by my State-side Doctor. Three of these mistakes led to root canals.
I've had a lot of work done State-side. Lots. Most of it was corrected here in TJ however. I'll post everything, prices, xrays, before and after (scary stuff) pics etc. So stay tuned.
