Years back had the occasion to visit one of those jail cells (as a tourist to visit the facilities), and I will tell you something, it is not a place you want to stay as a tenant. I saw the cells, steel doors and as to the bathroom, I won't get into that area. Stefhen

I guess it doesn't matter as much when youre with a huge group, the only ones in the restaurant, and slamming shots of tequila with buckets of beer and margaritas for the girls ,lol.

That was high living for us ghetto kids, haha.

The last time I went though, I noticed things werent so cheap anymore. At least compared to when I used to go there with the family as a kid.
And Rosarito seems to be going down hill too. I went for a weekend in the off season, and it felt more like TJ than the Rosarito I remember.

I know youve been to some poor villages, but trust me, most of Mexico is not Tijuana.
No I don't. Tijuana is a dump and so are most border towns. I went to Teotihuacan or however you spell it and that was beautiful. Where I went to in Mexico City.. pretty ugly and dirty. I like Guadalajara much more.

Its just that most border towns are urban. Most old urban cities are dirty. Its just that border towns have HUGE traffic and pedestrian traffic.

Not to mention it has always attracted a lot of people from poorer areas.
Those people become desperate when they get stuck in the border town and start doing what they can for money. Panhandling, prostitution, stripping, etc. Lots of children end up homeless and become exploited and used for money.

Then theres a lot of American people who cross the border to partake in things that are illegal in the US.

A lot of the seedy venues are to accomodate American tourists looking for that kind of thing.

Then the underpaid cops take advantage of the Americans crossing with lots of cash on them(for god knows what.)

Its a pretty messed up environment, and really sad.

I heard Guadalajara was really nice. Id like to check it out sometime, along with my families hometown in Zacatecas.

But yeah, Mexico City is probably a dump because its so huge and old. Thats why New York is pretty dumpy itself.

Ab, don't you think that was a bit too radical? deciding not to visit Mexico ever again? you make it sound like if it was hell or something like that LOL

I believe that those who say that tijuana is a cesspool is because they only visit the seedy areas of the city.

I know a lot of people will say that San Francisco is an horrible city, but for me it rocks and even though I love the architecture and liberal feeling of the city, there were some alleys filled with crack addicts that smelled like urine that gave me the creeps.

The same with Mexico city, some parts are really ugly and dirty but not all the areas are like that, some pictures:

AWESOME thread showing some of the better side of Mexico when people dwell so much on the not so pretty side.

Certain people are so convinced that Mexicans are a culture of rapists and murderers(LITERALLY!), but I think a lot of Mexican culture is really beautiful.

I cant wait to see my grandmothers hometown in Zacatecas!

The only ones who think that are those who are so unhappy and frustrated with their lifes that can only find some relief bashing what they don't know.

I wonder how much time and energy has been wasted by those who just post junk in the immigration forum, note not that all who post in the immigration forum post junk, or that immigration isn't a problem, it is just that some people just use it as an excuse to bash

I am not sure, but it appears this thread was moved here to the Mexico forum, from the Immigration forum. Immigration related posts, as well as entirely off-topic posts, have been removed. Thank you.
