Four men were sentenced on Friday to varying terms in federal prison for their roles in illegally exporting hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition from the United States into Mexico. The sentences were announced by U.S. Attorney Don DeGabrielle, Southern District of Texas; the case was investigated by U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Noe Guadalupe Calvillo, 29, Juan Luis Hernandez-Ramos, 37, and Guadalupe Ramiro Munoz-Mendez, 34, are all from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico; Rogelio Garcia, 47, is from Edinburg, Texas. Calvillo was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison, Garcia to 39 months, Hernandez-Ramos to 37 months, and Munoz-Mendez to 30 months.

The two-count indictment alleged the unlicensed and unauthorized exportation of defense articles from the United States to Mexico. Garcia, Hernandez-Ramos and Munoz-Mendez pleaded guilty to count one, alleging exportation of 30,900 rounds of ammunition. Calvillo pleaded guilty to count two that alleges exportation of 51,400 rounds of ammunition.

oh ya!!! did you know that 95% of weapons (mostly high powered ones) seized by mexican cops in the war on the drug cartels are US weapons!!!
bought at gun shows in border states. usually in packs of 6. no more than a dozen in order to not raise suspicion.
they pay 1000, for a Cuerno de chivo (AK), and sell them for about 5k.

the drug cartels use nothing but US weapons.

its funny that the US is basically the worlds weapons supplier, be it thru gov't programs, smuggling or "lost" weapons.

well not so funny as it is scary.

im sure no one is questioning what i said about 95% guns found in MX having US origins, but i know i would question this claim. so here is one article that supports this. this is a credible source as well not some world news whatever. and it comes from the ATF.

ATF says most illegal guns in Mexico are from United States (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/mexico/atf_says_most_illegal_guns_in_mexico_are_from_unit ed_states100.html - broken link)

transparency and accountability, you know.

Ya sure, all those Chinese made SKS automatic weapons come from the US. Come on, why would they bring them here? They can offload them from a boat.

I think it's closer to 60 percent, but this is the closest you've come to making a point (albeit in a rude way towards The One) so I'll ignore that made up number.

Because READING is fundamental, comprehension is the key and the links really do serve a purpose . . . .

Quote:
The investigation was conducted by ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection; Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven T. Schammel, Southern District of Texas, prosecuted this case.
This case was investigated as part of "Armas Cruzadas," an ICE-led bi-lateral program designed to comprehensively identify, disrupt and dismantle trans-border weapons-smuggling networks. The operation aims to stop the illegal export of weapons from the United States and into the hands of drug cartel organizations inside Mexico. Armas Cruzadas will help strengthen interagency cooperation between United States and Mexican federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, and promote the exchange of intelligence through multiple points of contact.
