Glad to hear Bucerias is enjoying it's usual tourist season, SarahSal. I've got my camera gear ready and my passport packed to head to Puerto Vallarta in two weeks. Keep that sun shining for me!

I won't have to try too hard! The sun hasn't stopped shining since December - with maybe a cloud or two thrown in..

Have a fun trip -- and take some great pics and post them!

Kind of reminds me of when in the past travel alerts were passed to places like Iran and foolish folks went anyway. How about Honduras,ElSalvador? Then bad things happen and the families expect us to send in the Marines to save the idiots who felt the warnings were over rated. Every year we see a few folks taken and more often than not never seen or heard from again.
I grew up near this waterfall. All us kids would go swim there every summer. We were warned not to jump from the rocks. We did anyway. Every other year or so someone would end up hurt pretty bad. Moral of the story is maybe we should have listened. Or maybe they should have arrested folks violating the ban.

Don't think you've been following this forum very closely! Travel warnings are targeted to Mexico's *border cities* because that's where the drug problems exist. The 'tourist' cities on the coasts are relatively or completely peaceful and safe - probably extremely more so than the US's major cities like LA, Detroit or NYC.. This bludgeoning of Mexico's tourism business is becoming very annoying and unwarranted..

Mexico like Thailand has its safe areas. Like Thailand Mexico also has some very dangerous elements. Unlike Thailand its much more wide spread. Travel and have fun. Watch your back and keep it safe. As a sailor I love the beach and sailing. Keep it safe and avoid the bad parts of Mexico. Criminals tend to travel also. Keep in mind tourists are always welcome prey. I wouldnt go without some friends to watch my back but that applies to any country.
