SANTIAGO DE CHILE.- Mexicans are the ones that fear loosing their job the most in Latin America, followed from Argentineans and Chileans, according to a survey published in Santiago.
A study realized by Trabajando.com in five countries of Latin America demonstrated that the world economic crisis hasn't left anyone indiferent.
When they were consulted by the fear of loosing their job, Mexicans were the most fearful with a 72% of affirmation, followed by the Argentineans (68%) Chileans (67%) Peruvians (62%) and finally Brazilians (54%)
I don't know enough about the economies of the countries, but I wonder if the percentage of fear correlates to strength of the economy in each of the countries? A quick guess tells me yes because Brazil probably has the strongest economy of them all. ??
It's tough all over, especially the US, and I think the worse will come after April of this year in the US for too many reasons to get into here, but that will ripple to the world a few months after that, so it's going to be a vary bad 2009.

It could be, although structually speaking the Mexican economy is the strongest of Latin America, although Brazil is a very close economy that taxes heavily any imports, this and the huge size of the country make her economy less dependent on global trade, although the crisis has hit Brazil's exports hard though.
Yet, I prefer to remain optimistic, and continue working hard instead of worrying about the future.

That's probably a good point. Maybe when you're a fairly self-reliant farmer, able to work hard on your own little farm or ranch or ejido, you don't worry too much about "employment" as in working in a factory or store.
It's probably why so many Americans think about living off the land when they believe times could get hard. It might be fairly hard work but there is some security knowing you can feed your family and make it without a formal job.
