Resources to combat<br> swine flu hysteria
Thanks for posting this.. I've already forwarded it to a few folks who might share this view.. I thought one report of a joint US/Mexico hog farm enterprise cast doubt on exactly where this virus originated. Until it's proven otherwise, many will choose to blame Mexico.

that the child you mention is recovered from the virus.

the country with the largest number of infections is USA with 91 cases followed by Mexico with 46 confirmed cases and 7 deaths, and then Canada with 13 cases, after other countries.

Its clear that you are unaware of the steps being taken by mexican government and your post is uninformed.

No Americans have died yet, apparently the cases in the USA have been mild. It's difficult to know how many Mexicans have died from this -- there was a child from Mexico who died in Houston but he didn't catch it in the USA but so far the only death inside the USA from it. Some reports had a high number of deaths, now supposedly it's quite low.

This will be used as a pretext to shut down the border with Mexico for good.

That´s because the mexican government has just received the laboratory from other countries (us included) to identify the disease with precision.

Many of the other deaths reported were pneumonia and others, and now the analysis can be determined in less time if it is this disease or another, thats why the numbers dropped dramatically.

The people that die in Mexico and other countries is explained by the late attention and lack of resources to move to a nearby health facility.

And the dead are not yet in other countries, does not mean that can happen.

What upset me are the comments ill-intentioned people who blame now mexico of the disease without a single fact to support his sayings.

The disease was identified last Thursday. Tomorrow all activities are suspended until next Tuesday, the government has acted swiftly.

Yes this upsets me too, but you know that there's some people that will look up for any excuse to justify their hatred.

I've been finding that alot of people here in the states are saying "oh..yeah they died here but they didn't contract it here". But it's a viral infection. They may have not contracted it here but who's to say they haven't spread it here? People will think what they want anyways. And who am I to try and change their thoughts?

BTW- You don't die from Swine Flu. You can die from the complications of the virus. Tamiflu does not cure the flu, it lessens the time frame of symptoms so you have a better chance of recoving. But what do I know, right? To each their own.

You said all along that it was overblown but you also said something about the panic situation in Mexico.

Yes people will blame Mexico -- maybe even more if this turns out to have been a hoax or a big-nothing. It was pictures of people in Mexico all wearing masks, reports of the government there on the streets handing out masks and reports of people dropping like flies -- that were coming out of Mexico and some of the reports were horrible - how quickly people fell ill and were dying rather terribly. Now it's reported that none of that was true at all.

It's not a good way to get attention. The whole world was watching, becoming alarmed by the thought of a very dangerous pandemic.

Hatred or pure ignorance. I agree with both of you.

I think that the alarming part of all is that it is a man made epidemic (made in a laboratory). I think that at the beginning we did not know how serious it would get. I still think that the newspapers are not telling the truth about the number of people that have died of this disease and at the same time, it is not reported that many people who do have the symptoms are getting treated and returned home to recuperate. People are no longer in panic like they were in the first couple of days. That pharmacies ran out of masks, is the truth. As of today, many still dont have any. I would say about 25% of the people I see outside are wearing their masks. I´m sure there will be a post epidemic report with a full investigation. Time will tell but for the most part, things are getting back to normal and people are getting relaxed.

People got scared because it's normal to get scared about what you don't know, governments overreacted (specially the Mexican government) because it' better to be safe than sorry, but now slowly as more information about the virus unfolds things are getting slowly back to normal .

Btw the latest figures are:

343 people got the flu 15 have died from it, most of the deaths were from people that lives in very poor and isolated rural areas, or slums where they lack the resources to face the disease, but if treated with time it's hard to die from it.

regards
